ANNOUNCEMENT: Globe-trotting hands-on kits soon to inspire kids in science

Thanks to our recent tri-partnership connecting the CDK Global vision and teams, Project Helping’s Kynd Kit experience and know-how, and g4g’s STEMtastic ingenuity, our first STEM kits have hit the global pavement!

Brussels, Belgium, 17 November 2020 — greenlight for girls recently partnered with Project Helping and CDK Global, a leading retail automotive technology company, for a STEM challenge that inspired employees to help get STEM-based learning in the hands of students in need. Through our creative collaboration and the usual STEM experimentation in the g4g Atelier, an exclusive CDK Global STEM Kynd Kit was designed.

Not your usual STEM ‘Kit’
The goal of this project was to create a virtual volunteer opportunity that would engage CDK Global employees in a hands-on activity that encourages STEM-based learning. Project Helping’s Kynd Kit provided the avenue to complete this project. With g4g’s design of the experiment, the final CDK STEM Kynd Kit included instructions and materials for a hands-on activity that CDK Global employees would build and then share with students around the world. These globe-trotting kits made their way to 2,000 CDK Global employees.

Tell us, what’s in the box?
The STEM activity included in the kits will teach volunteers and kids about circuitry, electricity and design engineering by building a solar-powered phone charger. After CDK Global volunteers complete building the Kynd Kits, the solar-powered phone chargers will be distributed to participants in the Boys & Girls Club of North America and Snehalaya and Cherish Foundation in India. The solar-powered phone charger will keep recipients sustainably powered wherever they go and demonstrates how to stay connected with renewable power.

Our projects and partnerships, such as with CDK Global, are an incredible opportunity to connect students and companies from around the world” says Melissa Rancourt, Founder and Chairman of greenlight for girls.  “This enables us to engage with the future generation of STEM leaders, show them examples of innovative companies and aspiring role-model professionals, and encourage their creativity and potential to continue to learn new innovative ideas.”

This project is a great illustration of our organization’s commitment to creating opportunities for quality and inclusive education, while also spreading kindness through virtual volunteering events,” says Sherri Dublin, Director of Employee Engagement at CDK Global. “We asked teams at CDK Global to build the Kynd Kits together, which helped strengthen bonds and encouraged employee engagement.”

“When I created Project Helping, my goal was to make sure individuals and companies could really dedicate time and effort to their wellbeing while actually volunteering for a good cause” says Justin Kruger, Founder of Project Helping. “This project gathers all our expertise for the benefit of thousands of volunteers and children around the world. This is such an accomplishment!”

Stay tuned for more initiatives for hands-on learning that can be shared to communities, schools and children.
