In May 2022, g4g, in collaboration with Solvay challenged girls to create sustainable future solutions to benefit their communities. This hackathon involved learning about innovation by applying a circular economy and eco-conscious mindset while diving into the importance of the UN sustainable development goals (SDGs).

This was a free and virtual sustainability hackathon available to girls aged 14 to 16 from all around the world. With the help of Solvay role models, we aimed to motivate girls from diverse backgrounds to apply Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) to develop a sustainable solution that benefits their communities.

During this week-long sustainability hackathon, we held three days of live interactive workshops on various water topics, including one-on-one feedback sessions. The hackathon brought together 50 girls from 7 different countries to create, develop, and invent. The challenge? To create an invention that helps make water more accessible to a community.
